Haloperidol (also marketed as Haldol) is an antipsychotic medication that is most commonly used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar mania, acute psychosis, and tics in Tourette syndrome. Haloperidol works by blocking the effects of dopamine in certain parts of the brain.
