Leah Chase (January 6, 1923 – June 1, 2019) was an American chef, author and television personality. She was born in New Orleans but was raised in Madisonville, Louisiana, before moving back to New Orleans to attend catholic school. Chase was known as the Queen of Creole Cuisine. She supported African-American art and Creole cooking. Her restaurant, Dooky Chase, was known as a gathering place during the 1960s among many who participated in the Civil Rights Movement.

Chase died on June 1, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 96. view more...
