Valmiera (
pronunciation (info • help); German: Wolmar) is a town in Latvia with town rights since 1323, it is the largest city of the historical Vidzeme region, Latvia, with a total area of 18.1 km2 (7.0 sq mi). It is the center of the Valmiera District. As of 2002, Valmiera had a population of 27,323, and in 2008 – 27,569.
